Police begin probe into medicine theft at Karachi's Jinnah Hospital

Medicines worth hundreds of thousands were stolen from Karachi's Jinnah Hospital over an extended period, hospital sources said on Wednesday.

Following the revelation, a five-member investigation team recommended the registration of a criminal case on behalf of the hospital administration. Acting on the recommendation, the hospital administration lodged an FIR at Sadar Police Station on the complaint of a security guard.

According to the FIR, two government employees of the hospital, identified as Khawar and Shoaib, have been nominated in the case. Hospital sources said further investigation is underway, and both employees are being questioned as part of the probe.

Sources revealed that medicines worth hundreds of thousands had been stolen over several years and that a large group is suspected to be involved in the theft. The hospital administration has stated that strict action will be taken against all those found involved in the matter.

Police said investigations are ongoing to identify other suspects and determine the full scale of the theft.
