Centre fires Hesco chief for ‘attending Sindh minister’s meeting’

The federal government has fired Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdul Haq Memon allegedly for attending a Sindh minister’s meeting, it is learnt reliably.
According to sources on Monday, Federal Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan reprimanded the Hesco chief on a phone call for participating in a meeting called by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh.
“You were asked to stay away from the meeting. Why did you attend? Show cause! Your are under the federal government,” the federal minister said showing him the door.
Abdul Razaq has been given additional charge of Hesco chief and a notification has been issued.
The sources said that Memon was tasked to disconnect the power supply to a political person of Tando Allahyar and he did so but he restored the supply after political intervention.
They added the company chief also participated in a meeting of Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh that was cited as reason for his firing.
