ECC approves grant of Rs42.5b for ECP to hold general elections

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet Thursday approved the grant of Rs42.5 billion for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold general elections.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting of the ECC on Thursday.

In the ECC meeting, the grant for ECP was approved and a grant of Rs10 billion will be released for the first phase of the upcoming general elections.

The ECC meeting also approved the funds of Rs200 million for the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

The ECC meeting also gave approval to export ghee and cooking oil to Afghanistan from export processing zones.

In the meeting, ECC members gave approval for the changes in the tobacco cess.
