Rs15 radio fee to be ‘collected’ through electricity bills

Ministry of Finance officials told the Senate’s Standing Committee on Finance on Thursday that the federal government planned to put more burden on masses as a suggestion was under consideration to collect radio fee along with TV fee from consumers through electricity bills, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

They informed the Senate body, which met with Saleem Mandviwalla in the chair, that Rs15 would be charged under the head of radio fee, and that in this connection the Ministry of Information had already drafted a summary.

They said that the Senate body had made a recommendation in this connection.

The officials added that besides this suggestion, there was also a proposal to privatize loss incurring organizations.

The finance ministry had received total 55 suggestions from the Senate committee, they concluded.
