Misha Japanwala creates custom pieces for Christopher Nolan's film 'The Odyssey'
Pakistani visual artist and fashion designer Misha Japanwala has earned international recognition after creating custom costume pieces for Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o in Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic film The Odyssey.
According to details shared, the collaboration came after Lupita Nyong'o personally suggested working with Japanwala.
Originally from Karachi and now based in New Jersey, Misha Japanwala is internationally known for transforming body casts into wearable sculptures that celebrate individuality and challenge beauty standards.
Her work often explores themes of identity, body image and the experiences of women in patriarchal societies.
A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, Misha has created custom pieces for several global stars, including Cardi B, Gigi Hadid, Lizzo, Lil Nas X and now Lupita Nyong'o.
Her work has been featured in leading international publications, while she was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2021 and the Dazed 100 list in 2024.
