Hammad Azhar invites US energy companies to invest in Pakistan

Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar met with US Embassy Chargé d’affaires Angela Aggeler and discussed bilateral cooperation on energy projects and the minister invited US energy companies to invest in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
US Embassy Chargé d’affaires Angela Aggeler appreciated the efforts of the alternative electricity sources. She said US energy companies are taking a keen interest in the energy sector of Pakistan.
Hammad Azhar said that there was a 20 percent increase in energy demand this year that in fact yielded positive developments in the power sector.
The minister said that $800 million was invested in the electricity distribution and transmission which added 4000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid system.
Hammad Azhar said there would be an increase in bilateral cooperation between the two countries. “30 percent electricity will be produced by alternative electricity sources by 2030,” he further added.
