Another great achievement for Pakistani doctors as the 11-year-old girl got a new lease of life after going through a successful bone marrow transplant at the Children's Hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The transplant on the girl, Zeenat, who was immunocompromised was performed by Dr Nasir Abbas Bukhari and his team.

Nasir Bukhari, who heads the marrow transplant unit at Children's Hospital, went on to say the cost of these transplants at the private level is more than Rs4m.

Dr Nasir Bukhari said that the patient stays in the hospital for a month after the transplant, adding that the girl should come for follow-up every week after discharge from the hospital.

Dr Nasir Bukhari said: "We performed the transplant with the help of hospital resources and philanthropists".

Nasir Bukhari went on to say if resources are provided, Pakistani doctors are no less than anyone else.

Zainab who hails from Gujranwala said: "I too will grow up to be a doctor and treat people for free "I'm fine now." 

Meanwhile, Zainab's mother said: "My three children lost their lives to this disease".

Zainab's mother said: "Almighty Allah did a special favor and my daughter was transplanted free of charge at the Children's Hospital, after which she became healthy."
