Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has said the FATF’s unanimous acknowledgment of completion by Pakistan of its 2018 and 2021 Action Plans is a big achievement, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Tuesday.

“We will fight for Pakistani’s interests at all the forums,” he told his supporters in Larkana on the birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.

“Benazir Bhutto fought for the people’s rights for three-decade and we will complete her mission,” he said.

The foreign minister said took a swipe at the last government for ruining the national economy and inflicting big damage upon the state.

He said the present government has been working for trade, not aid.

I would like to commend the hard work and dedicated efforts of Pakistan’s FATF team that have led to the successful completion of all technical requirements of both FATF Action Plans. This was the result of concerted national efforts and complete harmony of interests by all stakeholders.

He praised the persons dealing with the FATF issue over the remarkable progress made by Pakistan to enhance the effectiveness of its AML/CFT regime.

The government is committed to continuing this positive trajectory of reforming the financial sector as part of its larger strategic objective of strengthening Pakistan’s economy, he said, “I am certain that this good news from FATF will restore confidence in Pakistan’s economy and act as a catalyst for sustained growth and development.”

He took a swipe at the last government for what he called he has been telling lies since 2018 to cover corruption under his rule.

Benazir Bhutto bravely fought military dictators and her activists have kept her message alive in today's Pakistan, Bilwal recalled.

"It was because of the struggle of PPP jiyalas that Imran Khan was ousted from power via a no-trust move.

Imran Khan's narrative against corruption is a lie, he added.

The PPP chief said his party ousted the “selected” after waging a struggle along with two other political parties.

Bilawal said that power-hungry and criminal Imran Khan Niazi, who was responsible for the current inflation and several other prevailing economic issues, is roaming free and is accusing others of causing the issues.

“Imran was causing this damage to the people just to stay in power and the burden of it is now being born by the commoners.”
