Court disposes of case against Rajab Butt

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has withdrawn its case related to PECA and 295c against Vlogger Rajab Butt, with the investigating officer informing the court that no charges could be substantiated against him.

Additional Sessions Judge Salman Ghumman resumed the hearing during which the FIA officially withdrew its case, and the investigating officer testified that no case was made against Rajab Butt, he is innocent.

Following this statement, Butt’s legal counsel withdrew the interim bail application, and the court subsequently disposed of the case.

This decision marks a clear legal vindication for Rajab Butt after weeks of uncertainty surrounding the allegations.

On the previous hearing, the YouTuber secured interim bail in the case and the court barred the police from arresting him.

The case was registered in Nishtar colony police station after Butt’s perfume launch, which sparked huge controversy on internet.

In December last year, Rajab Butt was arrested over brandishing firearms in public and keeping a lion cub at his residence without a licence.

Police carried out a raid in collaboration with the Wildlife Department at his residence in the Chuhng area.

Reports said that police and wildlife seized the lion cub the vlogger received as a gift at his wedding.

Later, a special judicial magistrate convicted the vlogger for unlawfully possessing a lion cub and ordered him to do “community service” for one year as an alternative to his sentence.

“He will make/record a video in the form of a vlog with dedicated content on the animal’s rights for a full five minutes in the first week of every month for a full one year starting from February 2025 to January 2026,” reads the guilty verdict issued by Magistrate Hamidul Rehman Nasir.
