Juvaria Abbasi calls out society’s double standards towards successful women

Pakistani actress Juvaria Abbasi has got netizen attention again after her views on the way society often perceives confident, independent, and successful women.

Speaking during an interview with Maya Khan, Juvaria said that women who are ambitious and accomplished are judged more harshly than men.

According to her, society tends to celebrate women who fit traditional expectations while criticizing those who openly pursue their goals and aspirations.

The actress remarked that there is a common mindset that labels a woman as “bad” if she is confident, happy, and successful.

In contrast, she said, women who quietly conform to conventional roles are often praised as ideal and virtuous.

Juvaria made it clear that she does not believe women should limit themselves to satisfy societal expectations.

She said she wants to achieve her goals, enjoy life, and make the most of the opportunities available to her.

“If I can achieve something, why shouldn’t I?” was the essence of her message.

The conversation also turned personal when Juvaria addressed criticism she has received regarding her marriages and life choices.

She questioned why some people feel entitled to judge a woman’s personal decisions, especially when those decisions do not affect anyone else.

The actress further highlighted the harsh comments women often receive on social media, saying that regardless of what they wear or do, there are always people ready to criticize them.

She expressed frustration with the mindset that expects women to remain invisible, restrained, or apologetic for living life on their own terms.

Her remarks come shortly after another viral discussion involving veteran actor Firdous Jamal and comments about actresses and age in the entertainment industry.
