SC reduces convict's death penalty to life imprisonment in child rape case

Supreme Court issued written verdict on the appeal of Younis Masih, the convict who raped a 10-year-old girl, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Justice Salahuddin Panhor issued a written verdict.
The death sentence of the convict who raped a girl in a school has been commuted to life imprisonment.
The convict’s fine of Rs300,000 and additional six-month imprisonment have been upheld.
The order to pay Rs100,000 compensation to the victim girl under the Anti-Rape Act has also been upheld.
According to verdict, it is the fundamental constitutional responsibility of the state to provide protection to female students in educational institutions and on roads. 
All provincial IGs and IG Islamabad should increase police patrols outside educational institutions.
IGs should take immediate steps to protect girls in schools, colleges and universities.
The police should take immediate action without any delay on complaints of harassment of women and children.
It is recommended to the federal and provincial governments to establish a modern medical legal service on the model of the Sindh Medical Legal Act 2023.
