Religious leader Maulana Sufi shot dead in Karachi
Maulana Sufi Abdul Qayyum was chairman of Pakistan Ulema Association and principal of Madrasa Noorani Islamic Centre

Some unknown assailants shot dead a prominent cleric in Karachi on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, Maulana Sufi Abdul Qayyum Naqshbandi was going home after saying Fajr prayers in a mosque when he was waylaid by some assailants riding on a motorcycle in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 9, Magsi Chowk. The assailants shot him in the head, killing him on the spot.
The cleric was killed outside his home.
The dead body of the Maulana was sent to Jinnah Hospital, Karachi for autopsy.
Maulana Sufi was the principal of Madrasa Noorani Islamic Centre. He was also the chairman of Pakistan Ulema Association.
Police have started investigation of the incident.
According to initial investigation, the murder was result of personal enmity.
The people of the area staged a protest against the killing of the Maulana. They blocked both roads coming to Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 9 in protest.
