The alarming rise in the coronavirus cases continues in the country as 2,193 people tested positive for the virus during the past 24 hours which also saw another 32 patients dying, meaning that Pakistan is now one of those countries where over 1,000 deaths have been recorded.

According to the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre, the overall number of patients contracting the virus has now jumped to 48,091 with the death toll reaching 1,017.

Meanwhile, Pakistan conducted 15,346 tests during the past 24 hours, which is the highest daily total so far in the country. It means the total number of tests has gradually increased to 429,600 tests since the outbreak this pandemic in the country.

On the other hand, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan currently stand at 32,919 while 14,155 people have fully recovered from the infection.

As far the rate of hospitalization is concerned, 10,900 patients are currently admitted at different hospitals across the country with 350 of these being a critical condition.

The most number of cases has been reported in Sindh where 18,964 people tested positive for the virus. Punjab is second with 17,382 cases followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 6,815, Balochistan 2,968, Islamabad 1,235, Gilgit-Baltistan 579 and Azad Kashmir 148.

The region-wise details of the deaths recorded in the country is: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 351, Sindh 316, Punjab 297, Balochistan 38, Islamabad 10, Gilgit-Baltistan four and Azad Kashmir one.
