Shehbaz Sharif nudges govt over locust attacks

PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed his concern over the locust attacks in different parts of the country and said that the government should show seriousness in dealing with the crisis.

“The Federation and the provinces should follow a joint comprehensive strategy. The government should take steps to take joint measures at the regional level,” the PML-N leader said in a tweet.

Shehbaz Sharif said if effective measures were not taken to control the locusts then there was a risk of famine while coronavirus epidemic and locust attack and the economic pressure will make our problems worse.

He said people of the affected areas, especially farmers, were raising their concerns for quite some time. “Our agricultural economy is in serious danger and if the government will not take action then irreparable damage to the agricultural sector will be occurred posing serious threat to the national food security,” the PML-N leader said.
