Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Khuhro said Friday that the party had neither left the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition parties’ alliance, nor it wanted to, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a presser at Larkana Press Club, he said the PPP would only decide whether to attend or skip PDM’s meeting if the latter’s leadership invited it to the event.

Accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government of harbouring prejudice against Sindh, Khuhro said the province was confronting severe water shortage because of the former’s attitude. “Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released water from the Tarbela Dam at a wrong time that led to the fast depletion of the water reservoir in Sindh,” he said and regretted that sadly now both IRSA and the federal government were blaming the Sindh government for that.

PPP Sindh president said it was unfortunate that while Sindh was being robbed of its share in water, IRSA was acting like a mute spectator.

He alleged that brother of Saifullah Abro, PTI senator from Larkana, who is a contractor, beat up an engineer and his colleagues at the behest of the federal government when they refused to give him the contract.

“Senator Abro’s company has already got the contracts of 27 roads, but this does not imply that he will be given all the contracts,” Khuhro said.

He announced that he would get the inspection done of the projects completed by the PTI senator’s firm by Chief Minister’s Inspection Team and other departments.

PPP Sindh president said this would not stop here as it would also be investigated as to why the projects whose contracts Senator Abro’s company had won four years ago, could not be completed so far. “PTI senator’s firm will also be blacklisted on charges of blackmailing people for getting the contracts of different projects,” he announced.

He said it was improper to drag him into a brawl between the engineer and the senator’s brother since he did not have any favourites in the contractors.

Khuhro said he would send Senator Saifullah Abro defamation notice for accusing him of receiving kickbacks on contracts.

He made it clear that nobody was stopping the institutions from investigating awarding of contracts.

PPP Sindh president said despite opposition, PPP managed to retain its Sindh Assembly seat from Badin in the by-election held only a few days ago. “Now it has been proven that only the PPP enjoys the confidence of masses,” he claimed.

He said the slogan of ‘change’ which the PTI had raised before coming to power now laid exposed. “The ruling party will not even find candidates for elections,” he prophesied.
