Pakistan army is leading a rescue mission to put out the forest fire in a Pine Forest near Shergali, Dist Sherani in Balochistan that began on May 18, 2022 and is continuing till now.

According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations Saturday, Balochistan PDMA in co-ordination with NDMA is steering relief effort and org fire fighting activity.

Army and FC Balochistan are providing maximum assistance and HQ 12 Corps is coordinating closely with PDMA.

The fire is mostly on mountain tops (10000 ft high) away from population centres but continues to spread due to hot weather, inaccessible nature of terrain and dry winds; nearest village is approx 8 - 10 kilometres away from the location of fire.

However, ten families residing in isolated houses have been shifted to Medical relief camp established in Manikhawa by FC Balochistan.

An FC Wing and two Army helicopters alongwith local administration and Levies have been employed in fire fighting and relief efforts.

One helicopter is being used to drop water and other is being used to drop fire ball and fire extinguishing chemicals on the fire.

400 fire balls, 200 fire suits, blankets, tents, mats and fire extinguishing equipment have been provided by NDMA through FC Balochistan. Army has also transported relief equipment from Lahore to Zhob.
