NSAs to lead any Pakistan-India talks on terrorism, says PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that any talks between Pakistan and India on the issue of terrorism would be led by their national security advisers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to senior journalists in Islamabad on Wednesday, Shehbaz Sharif said India is not yet ready to hold talks in third country but “whenever these happen they would be held by national security advisers”.

The prime minister maintained that war is not a durable solution to any problem as only peace guarantees a secure future. “During the recent conflict, Israel had extended full help to the Indians. Israeli weapons were used by Indian forces in Srinagar and other locations.,” he added.

Responding to a question, Shehbaz Sharif the decision to elevate General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal was mine. “Before making any decision I consult Nawaz Sharif,” he added.

Shehbaz Sharif also said that Pakistan will raise four key points in any future dialogue with India — Kashmir, water, trade, and terrorism. He suggested that holding talks in a third country could be a good decision.

He claimed that Indian intelligence agencies support the banned BLA and stated that Pakistan would present evidence of Indian terrorism to the international community.

Additionally, he mentioned that the request for a ceasefire was made by India, and both countries have agreed to return to a state of peace.
Shehbaz Sharif added that US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio played key role in the ceasefire, while China, Turkey, and other friendly countries strongly supported Pakistan.

To a question, the prime minister said that the focus should now be on peace and economy.
