112 stolen vehicles worth Rs250m recovered: SSP Islamabad

Islamabad Police have recovered 112 stolen vehicles and 32 motorcycles worth more than Rs250 million from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces and handed them over to their owners. 

In special conversation with 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday, SSP Investigation Islamabad said the keys of the recovered vehicles and motorcycles were handed over to the original owners.

Anti-Car Lifting Unit has carried out successful operations and the Anti-Car and Motorcycle Theft Unit has arrested 64 suspects, including 40 members of 18 gangs, SSP Investigation said.

SSP said unknown car thieves were traced using Safe City cameras and modern technology. 

Several gangs were arrested through human and technical resources, SSP said. 

He said there has been a significant decrease in car theft incidents in the year 2025. 

SSP Investigation said a clear decrease in snatching has been observed with the arrest of organized gangs involved in vehicle snatching and theft. 

During successful crackdown in Kashmir, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, new and old model vehicles stolen from different districts were recovered, SSP said.
