Sri Lanka to host Men’s Blind Cricket World Cup 2027–28

Sri Lanka will host the Men’s Blind Cricket World Cup 2027–28, the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) announced on Friday. 

The WBCC convened its 27th annual meeting in Colombo, where a series of important decisions were made regarding future tournaments and the governance of blind cricket.

During the session, Bangladesh requested additional time to organise the upcoming Asia–Oceania Blind Cricket Cup, citing the need for extended preparation.

The council agreed to review Bangladesh’s revised proposal before finalising the event schedule.

A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement that Sri Lanka will organise the Men’s Blind Cricket World Cup 2027–28.  

The WBCC also approved new regulations, which require all member nations to have their players classified exclusively by doctors nominated by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA).

In a firm step to reinforce participation standards, the council decided that any member country failing to take part in future mega-events will face cancellation of its WBCC membership.

The meeting concluded with the announcement that the 28th WBCC annual session will take place in Nepal from 22 to 24 November 2026.
