Aleema Khan calls ban on meetings with Imran Khan ‘unconstitutional’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleema Khan on Tuesday criticised the ban on meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan, calling it “illegal and unconstitutional.” She said those enforcing the ban were violating the law themselves.

Speaking to reporters at a factory checkpoint, Aleema Khan remarked, “We are not breaking the law — they are. It’s strange that those who truly break the law face no punishment.”

She said that PTI members and media personnel were being targeted merely for conveying the party founder’s message.

“All the journalists who carried Imran Khan’s message with me are guilty along with me,” she said. “I even told the judge that if I’m guilty for sharing the message, then the media should also come to court with me.”

Commenting on the Toshakhana 2 case, Aleema claimed that the prosecution’s witness had been proven to be a liar, adding that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi should be released.

“The judge told me he was going to a wedding and would announce the decision in two or three days, but then gave the date of September 29. I don’t understand why,” she said.

Aleema further stated that false cases and punishments were being imposed on the PTI founder.

Responding to a journalist’s question on whether she wanted to file an FIR against the media, she said, “I don’t want it — the police have filed the FIR themselves.”

She clarified that the FIR was registered against her for delivering Imran Khan’s message and mentioning the name of Army Chief General Asim Munir. “We are ready to go to jail. The FIR was filed just because I took Asim Munir’s name,” she said.

“Imran Khan gave a message to Asim Munir — if that’s the reason for jail, then send him too,” she added defiantly.
