Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman took a firm stance on tendering resignations from the parliament during the opposition’s all parties conference held on Sunday.
The inside story of the APC meeting reported by 24NewsHD TV on Monday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that we have no other option but to resign from the assemblies.
Pakistan People’s Party opposed the Maulana Fazl’s option, saying that this was not the right time to resign from the assemblies.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if we did not have consensus on resignation issue, we would not hold press conference at the end of the meeting.
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif also put his weight behind Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Nawaz said that his party also ready to resign from the assemblies. He said that if the PPP resigns from the assemblies, we will do the same without wasting anytime.
In the first step, PPP opined, we would hold public gatherings and protests against the incumbent government across the country.
Later, all the parties agreed on resignation issue. It was decided that resignations would be tendered before March next year. It was decided to use resignation as last option. The PPP-led Sindh government would dissolve the Sindh Assembly first. Later, the opposition parties would resign from the other assemblies.
All the decisions during the opposition’s APC were recorded in writing.
