Maryam okays launching of Smart Waste Management Process in schools

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the launch of the ‘Smart Waste Management Process’ project in all government and private educational institutions across the province.

The Punjab government also issued a notification in this regard, which stated that dust bins of five colours should be placed in all the educational institutions.

Punjab Senior Minister for Environment and Climate Change Maryam Aurangzeb will supervise the project.

Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar and Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Malik were also assigned different targets.

The Punjab government has been directed to complete the process of placing dust bins in all educational institutions by September 30, 2025.

The inspections of colorful ‘dust bins’ will start from October 1, 2025, and in case of violation, a penalty will be imposed on the educational institution.

The notification further stated that separate dust bins are fixed for the removal of the garbage. The yellow colour dust bin is already fixed for the disposal of useless papers.

Bottles will be disposed of in a green colour dust bin, pieces of mirrors and laboratory. Iron garbage will be disposed of in red color, and other metals in the dust bin   

These items will be recycled for usage. The purpose of this project is to decrease the burden of barge and create a friendly atmosphere.

A team from Environment Projection will visit the schools. Local government and the Community Development Department will play their role in colourful dust bins to ensure a pollution-free atmosphere in all the educational institutions.

All those educational institutions that will complete all requirements will be awarded honorary certificates.

Punjab CM Maryam directs to ensure smooth supply of animal fodder in flood affected areas

As many as 4.7 million animals affected due to floods in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the increase in price of animal fodder in flood-affected areas of the province and directed officials to ensure smooth supply, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.  

Provincial Minister for Livestock and Rescue Ashiq Hussain Kirmani briefed the Chief Minister about livestock and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas.

He said that 4.7 million animals were affected in Punjab due to floods, and 22 lakh animals were shifted to safer places.

About 20 lakh animals were vaccinated, and 824 were lost during the flood season.
