More villages submerged, crops destroyed after floodwaters enter Sindh

After causing a colossal loss of Rs86.12 billion in the Punjab, floodwaters have now entered Sindh, resulting in a medium flood in the River Indus at Kotri, besides inundating villages and destroying crops, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

As many as 50 more villages of katcha area in Dadu have been submerged, while the road link between Dadu and Mehrr has been severed.  

Villages in the katcha area of Sujawal and Thatta have also been flooded.

Outbreak of skin diseases in Ubauro 

Following floods, there is an outbreak of skin diseases in Ubauro and its suburbs, while the shortage of medicines at the tehsil hospital has also become a headache for the people.  

Locals have appealed to the government to take notice of the situation. 

Flood washes away dyke in Ahmadpur Sial 

Scores of towns and villages in Ahmadpur Sial have been inundated after a dyke in Samandoana was washed away. 

Severe damage has also been caused to a petrol pump in the area.  

River Sutlej leaves trail of destruction in Qaimpur

Although the River Sutlej has caused widespread devastation in Qaimpur, near Bahawalpur, no rescue team has reached Nurpur village so far, forcing the residents of the area to spend nights out in the open.  

The locals have appealed to the government to rescue them. 

People in flood-hit areas look to govt for help

Although water levels have dropped in Burewala and Luddan, there is still no end in sight to the misery of people, at least in the near future. 

The affected people have pinned hopes on the government to make them stand on their own feet.

Same is the situation in Pakpattan and Qabula, where the people who are now returning to their homes are saddened to see them either damaged or destroyed and their crops flooded.

Punjab reels from effects of floods

Punjab, which has been badly hit by floods, has suffered the loss of Rs86.12 billion, while the death toll in the province has reached 131. 

People’s homes were most affected as they suffered the loss of Rs47.25 billion, while a loss of Rs33.98 billion was caused to crops.  

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 27 districts of the province have been affected, over 4,700 villages have been submerged, while over 4.5 million people have been displaced. 

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has said that 271 relief camps and 300 medical camps have been set up in the flood-hit areas. "Over 2.6 million people have been moved to safe locations," he has said, adding 283 veterinary camps have also been set up for the treatment of cattle. 

Relief items dispatched to flood-hit areas on PM's orders

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has dispatched relief items to the calamity-hit areas.

The NDMA has handed over to the PDMA 1,000 tents for the affected people of Khanewal.
