Punjab goverment bans use of state resources for Islamabad marches

Punjab government has imposed restrictions on the use of official resources for any march or procession towards Islamabad following PTI’s announcement of a march on September 27, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

PTI has announced plans for a march towards Islamabad which prompted the Punjab government to issue directives regarding the use of state resources and participation of government employees.

The Punjab government has banned the use of public funds, official vehicles, machinery and government personnel for any march or procession.

No government employee may be compelled to participate in any political march or procession.

The Punjab government has also directed administrative officers, police and law enforcement agencies to ensure implementation and issue similar instructions to their subordinate and autonomous bodies.

A special helpline has also been established at the Punjab Home Department to report violations. Departmental action will be taken against any official found violating the directives.

The directives were issued in compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s order dated September 14.

All departments have been asked to submit compliance reports by September 23.
