Sindh govt challenges Daniel Pearl case verdict in SC

The Sindh government has challenged the Sindh High Court’s recent verdict in Daniel Pearl murder case that had overturned the sentences of the four convicts.
While moving to the highest court of appeal on Wednesday, the Sindh government requested the Supreme Court to reinstate the death penalty of the principal accused Ahmed Omer Sheikh, whose sentence was reduced to seven years.

In addition, the SHC acquitted the co-accused Fahad Salim, Suleman Saqib, and Sheikh Adil who were handed life terms. They were released following the high court’s verdict.
In its three appeals filed in the apex court, the Sindh government has made respondent all the accused involved in Daniel Pearl’s murder case.
