The Pakistani rupee scored a marginal gain against the US dollar in the interbank market on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the information obtained from the forex traders, the local currency appreciated by 11 paisas against the greenback and was being traded at Rs278.20.

On Friday last, the Pakistani rupee had registered a minor increase, appreciating 0.05% against the US dollar in the interbank market, closing the day at Rs278.31, a gain of 13 paisas.

In a key development, the International Monetary Fund Middle East and Central Asia director said that the Fund is ready to support Pakistan and the package of reforms is now more important than the size of the new programme.

“I think what is important at this stage is to accelerate the reforms, double down on the structure of reforms in order to provide Pakistan with its full potential of growth,” Jihad Azour told a press conference on the sidelines of the IMF 2024 Spring Meetings in Washington.
