Chief Justice calls key meeting on judges’ transfers across courts

The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, has called an important meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan to consider the possible transfer of judges between high courts, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to sources, the meeting, which will be chaired by the chief justice, is scheduled to take place on 28 April. The session will focus on proposals to transfer several judges from the Islamabad High Court to other high courts across the country.

It is understood that five judges are under consideration for transfer, including Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Babar Sattar and Arbab Muhammad Tahir. 

The names of Saman Rafat Imtiaz and Khadim Hussain Soomro have also been included in the list, sources said.

Officials indicated that the commission would review a proposal to transfer Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani to the Lahore High Court, while Justice Babar Sattar may be considered for posting to the Peshawar High Court. 

ustice Arbab Muhammad Tahir is likely to be considered for transfer to the Balochistan High Court.

In addition, the possible transfer of Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro to the Sindh High Court will also be discussed during the meeting.
