The Islamabad High Court has reserved its verdict on the petition challenging the physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IHC Acting Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petition on Monday.

Gill’s lawyer Salman Safdar and Islamabad Advocate General appeared before the court.

The AG told the court that PTI Chief Imran Khan gave a statement against the additional sessions judge.

But Justice Farooq told him that it was another issue and the court would look into it. Then he asked Gill’s lawyer to present his arguments against the approval of physical remand of his client by a sessions court.

Mr Safdar argued that Gill was subjected to the worst kind of torture during police custody. Torture has become a routine exercise in Pakistan, he said adding that physical torture marks obliterate in maximum 5-6 days. .

At this moment, a police report on alleged physical torture on Gill was submitted to the court from Islamabad IG police.

While giving his arguments, Mr Safdar said that police told that they wanted to recover Gill’s mobile phone which was presumably with the driver of Gill. Then why his remand is needed when he does not possess his phone, he asked.

However, the special prosecutor told the court that 90% of investigation was yet to be carried out.

The investigation officer said that they wanted to recover Gill’s mobile phone and also needed to run his poly-grahic test.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the acting chief justice reserved his verdict on the plea.
