Pakistan Army steps up rescue operation for flood victims of Punjab

At a time when rivers in Punjab, particularly River Sutlej, are in high flood and at several places have even burst their banks, Pakistan Army is leading relief and rescue activities in the affected areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

River Sutlej has wreaked havoc at Pakpattan as not only it has flooded fields but also washed away several homes and roads. People have been completely cut off from their surroundings and are finding it hard to commute.

Pakistan Army, which considers assisting flood victims its primary duty, is busy in relief and rescue activities in the affected areas.

Army personnel have shifted the people affected by deluge in River Sutlej to safe places.  

They have also provided food items and medicines to these people.

Army jawans are not only active in Pakpattan, but also in Minchanabad, Bahawalnagar, Chishtian, Pakpattan, Kasur, Mailsi and Arifwala, and they are determined to carry out their activities in future as well.

On the other hand, army’s relief and rescue activities in Kasur are now into its second day.  

The army personnel are distributing ration among the affected people in Gandha Singh, Dhup Sarri, Ghatti Kalangar, Aulake, Jumma wala, Kamalpura, Shajra, Mahiwal, Atari, Najabat and Thathi Bukhshi areas of the district.

So far they have distributed 16 tonnes of ration for free.

Army jawans are using boats to reach the affected areas; distributing food items among them and also shifting them to safe places.

So far, thousands of flood victims have been evacuated from their homes.

Not only the army has provided food items to the people displaced by floods but also medicines.

A free medical camp has been set up at Thathi Bukhshi where thousands of people have so far come for their treatment.
