Bangladesh unveil squad for Asia Cricket Cup 2025

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match home T20I series against the Netherlands as well as the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28.

The selection is headlined by the return of wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, who receives a national call-up after a three-year absence from the T20I setup. The 31-year-old last represented Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022.

Sohan replaces all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has been omitted following a poor performance in five T20Is this year.

Miraz will remain with the team as one of the four designated standby players for the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, left-handed opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh failed to retain his place in the 15-member squad.

Bangladesh, placed in Group B of the Asia Cup, will begin their campaign against Hong Kong on September 11, followed by crucial matches against Sri Lanka on September 13 and Afghanistan on September 16.

Before the continental tournament, the Tigers will host the Netherlands for a three-match T20I series.

All fixtures against the Dutch will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, September 1, and September 3.
