Punjabi cinema icon Dr Jaswinder Bhalla passes away at 65

The Punjabi entertainment industry is in deep mourning following the demise of legendary comedian and actor Dr Jaswinder Bhalla, who died in the early hours of August 22, 2025, at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He was 65.

Bhalla, who was regarded as one of the pillars of Punjabi comedy, leaves behind an unmatched legacy that stretched across decades.

Born in Ludhiana district, Jaswinder Bhalla was not only a celebrated entertainer but also an accomplished academic. He earned a PhD in Agricultural Science and served as a professor and Head of the Department of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University.
