Pakistan’s Asia Cup U-19 champions get hero's welcome

Pakistan under-19 cricket team received a hero's welcome at the Islamabad International Airport upon their return from Dubai in the early hours of Monday after winning the U-19 Asia Cup by crushing India in the final, reported 24newsHD TV channel.

Foolproof security arrangements were made for the security of the Pakistani team who landed at about 1.15 am.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet the Pakistani under-19 cricket team today to congratulate them on their splendid victory.

The young champions were greeted by fans who were cheering and dancing to drumbeats, singing patriotic songs, and showering rose petals on the young heroes as they emerged from the airport.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made a significant announcement for the victorious Under-19 Asia Cup team. Sources reported that the PCB chairman announced a cash reward of Rs5 million for each player that bamboozled India by 191 runs in the final in Dubai.

Following the team’s overwhelming triumph, Mohsin Naqvi met with the players, praised their performance, and motivated them for future challenges. He also assured the players of complete support and care in all aspects, including the provision of medical facilities and other necessities.

It is worth noting that in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup final held in Dubai, Pakistan defeated India by a commanding 191-run margin.

Opener Sameer Minhas blitzed his way to 172 off 113 balls, setting up Pakistan's demolition of India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final in Dubai. In response to Pakistan's 347 for 8, India folded for 156 in 26.2 overs.

Minhas' knock was the highest individual score for Pakistan, and also, the highest individual score by any batter in a final in Youth ODIs. He hit 17 fours and nine sixes during his stay, and fell in the 43rd over, finishing with a strike rate of 152.21.

Pakistan scored 347 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Minhas played a blistering innings laced with 17 fours and nine sixes. He completed his century off 71 ball. He is the top scorer of the tournament.

Ahmed Hussain contributed 56, Usman Khan 35, captain Farhan Yousuf 19 and Hamza Zahoor 18. Muhammad Sayyam 13 and Niqab Shafiq remained not out with 12 runs.

For India, Dipesh Devendran took three wickets, Khelan Patel and Hanil Patel two wickets each.

Chasing a daunting target, the Indian side bowled out for 156 runs. Dipesh Devindran top-scored with 36 runs, while Surya Vanshi made 26, Arun Patel 19, and Arun George scored 16 before being dismissed. Kanshak Chauhan and Vedant Chauhan were guests at the rease, scoring 9 runs each.
