PPP will fight like 300 Spartans fought, says Bilawal

Lashing out at both the government and PML-N, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said that before Imran Khan Nawaz Sharif too was a selected prime minister.
About the reduced numbers of his party at the Centre in general and Punjab in particular, Bilawal said “It doesn’t matter that we’re less in numbers today; we will fight like 300 Spartans fought.”
He was referring to the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC) in which 300 bravest of Spartans took on the massive Persian army, and despite the loss of the battle, their bravery immortalised their fame and eclipsed the victory of Xerxes, the Persian king.
While predicting the downfall of the incumbent government in its second year, Bilawal told newsmen in Lahore that this government will collapse within six months. “This government was an outcome of a deal, whose contract is expiring in six months,” he added.
Criticizing the king-maker’s role of the security institutions, the PPP leader said “We will not come to power as a result of any such power-sharing formula as that brought this government to power.”
He said “the governments resulting from these contract do only what is outlined in the contract,” adding that the PPP would not strike any such deal in order to come to power.
Beating both the major parties with the same stick, Bilawal said “Before Imran, Nawaz too was selected”, adding that neither of the two had any regard for the parliament.
Comparing his party’s performance with that of others, the PPP Chairman said that Murad Ali Shah is better than all the incumbent chief ministers of the other provinces, including the former CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif.
Bilawal alluded to the PML-N leadership’s departure to London, saying “whenever Punjab needed its leaders, they turned their back toward the province.”
