Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that despite the fact that 70 cases had been registered against him, he had no fear, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a televised address, he paid tributes to the people of Lahore for participating in ‘Jail Bharo’ movement in large numbers. “Come and arrest us; we are not afraid of you,” he dared the government.
PTI chief further said that the country’s present situation was due to the corruption and poor governance of the PML-N and PPP governments.
Imran said that the constitution was quite explicit when it said that elections should be held within 90 days of the dissolution of an assembly. “However, here the case is opposite since the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja is adamant and is in no mood to hold elections,” he deplored.
He demanded that action should be taken against the CEC under Article 6.
Former prime minister blasted the coalition government for teargassing and baton-charging PTI leaders and workers on May 25, 2022 when for the first time they had set out on a long march.
Imran expressed the hope that despite reign of terror let loose by the government, PTI would come to power again.
PTI chief regretted that interim governments, which are supposed to be neutral, are exactly the opposite of that. “In Punjab it is Shehbaz Sharif who is calling the shots while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) it is Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” he said.
