A police officer was martyred and two accused were killed in a fierce-fought gunbattle in Karachi on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

SHO Korangi Industrial Area Aurangzeb Khattak said martyred Head Constable Zaheer was a brave officer. “He fought fiercely and killed two accused, and also sacrificed his life for maintaining peace in the city,” he added.

According to details, a police patrol party was on guard at Nasir Jump in Chakra Goth area of Korangi when the policemen singnalled two suspicious persons riding a motorcycle to stop. Instead of stopping the accused fled into another street where they traded bullets with the cops.

In police retaliatory fire, the two accused were killed. Head Constable Zaheer was also seriously injured and was rushed to a nearby private hospital on Stadium Road where he succumbed to his wounds.

Martyred head constable’s brother Nasir said that the family was proud of Zaheer who received a bullet in his chest and got martyred.

Zaheer’s Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered at Garden Headquarters which will be attended by senior police officers.
