Amanda Holden discloses ‘major secret King Charles shared’ at The Royal Variety Performance

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has revealed how King Charles plans to expand the family and get a new dog, after the death of the Queen's beloved rescue dog.

The Dailymail reported that Queen Camilla was left heartbroken after the death of Jack Russell Beth in November and she adopted Beth from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, in South London, in 2011, and fellow Jack Russell terrier Bluebell joined the family the following year.

Amanda, 54, hosted the Royal Variety Show in December with co-presenter Alan Carr and following the ceremony met with the King who told her of his plans.

The mail quoted her as saying “[At the Royal Variety performance] We talked a lot about Battersea Dogs Home and how he and Camilla would probably get another dog this year.”

Amanda added that she had met the royals 'a lot over the years' and said King Charles 'had a very fun side'.

She said: “He also talked about what he loved about the show. I think he's got a great sense of humour.'

The Britain's Got Talent judge will be returning to our screens on Saturday alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and guest judge KSI.

Amanda revealed she wants to pass on her job to her daughter.

Asked if she can imagine doing the show for another 18 years, she said: "No, I cannot. It would be perfect if we pass the baton down to our actual children.

“But wouldn't it be cute if we actually turned it into a family business for real and passed it down?

“'I think our children would jump at the chance."

In September, Amanda's daughter Alexa, 19, followed in her footsteps by becoming a model for TranHung's catwalk.

The Heart Breakfast host, who has spent the week on the back of a yacht celebrating her 54th birthday, said she won't be covering up when she gets to cold Britain because “fashion is worth getting nippy for”.

The royal family have a long association with dogs, with the late Queen Elizabeth keeping a number of Corgi dogs at Buckingham Palace over her seven-decade reign.
