Newly-wed Phupo abducted, tortured by nephews in Lodhran

Love marriage in old age turned out to be a nightmare for a couple in Lodhran as the newly-wedded bride abducted and tortured by her nephews for “bringing shame to the family at this age”, reported 24NewsDH TV channel on Saturday.

The incident abduction of Phupo (aunt-father’s sister) happened in Qureshiwala area of Lodhran.

According to details, the 53-year-old bride namely Nazir Khatoon married Ramzan with her own choice some time back.

Ramzan said that soon after the Nikkah, they left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. He further said three days after their arrival from Saudi Arabia, nephews of her wife attacked their house and abducted his wife Nazir Khatoon.

He further revealed that they married in court after obtaining permission from their children.

Nazir Khatoon who is a resident of Khanwa Ghulwan said that she was living as a widow and has four children who were all married. Khatoon said she tied the knot with Ramzam three months ago.

She complained that her nephews tortured her brutally after abducting her from her new home.

Soon after receiving the report, police raided the house of the accused and recovered the kidnapped bride.

She was immediately shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) due to critical injuries.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Mumtaz said that the police had already registered a case of kidnapping and arrested one accused.

He assured that strict action will be taken against the accused and an exemplary punishment will be awarded to them.
