South Africa humble India by 76 runs in T20 World Cup Super Eights opener

South Africa humbled India by 76 runs in their opening Super Eights match of the T20 World Cup 2026, played in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

After winning the toss, South Africa elected to bat first and posted a formidable total of 187-7 in their allotted 20 overs.

David Miller led the charge with a fluent 63, supported by Dwaal Brevis (45) and Stubbs (44), providing the innings with crucial momentum in the middle overs.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh chipped in with two, attempting to restrict the South African total.

However, the Indian batting lineup failed to chase the target, crumbling under disciplined South African bowling.

Despite Dube’s 42, no other batsman managed to make a significant contribution.

India was bowled out for just 111 in the 19th over, handing South Africa a comprehensive 76-run victory.
