JUI takes out rally in Karachi against Israel

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) has staged a demo in Karachi to show solidarity with the people of Palestine and Kashmir.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against Israel. They adopted resolutions to condemn Israel’s aggression and Indian atrocities in the occupied Kashmir. The government came under fire over ‘its failure to support Muslims across the world.
The speakers showed solidarity with the sacked staff of PTV, Radio Pakistan Still Mills and vowed to take up the matter at the forums concerned. They raised the demand for stepped up efforts to recover the missing people. The demonstrators also demanded a due share of Sindh in the national resources.
The JUI planned a gathering near the Jinnah's mausoleum on January 21 to condemn Israel and any potential move to establish diplomatic relations with Israel.
The Karachi administration reportedly rejected JUI’s request for holding a protest. The JUI approached the deputy commissioner on January 12 but, according to reports, the top admin officer sought the provincial police’s opinion. Fazl told the media that the anti-Israel rally will be attended by the 11-party opposition alliance under the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) banner.
