Pakistan’s external financing surges 188% in December 2025
Pakistan experienced a significant surge in external funding in December 2025, with inflows increasing by 188.3 percent monthly, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to a report released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Wednesday, on a year-on-year basis, external financing in December 2025 increased by 58.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
The report said Pakistan received $1.4747 billion in external funding during December 2025, up from $930 million in December 2024 and $511.5 million in November 2025.
During the first half of the current fiscal year (July–December 2025), external funding rose by 25.09 percent, reaching $4.5074 billion, compared to $3.6033 billion during the same period last year.
The ministry noted that the federal government has projected more than $19.77 billion in external financing for the ongoing fiscal year.
A significant portion of this is expected in the form of deposits from Saudi Arabia and China, totaling $9 billion.
According to the estimates, Pakistan expects to receive $5 billion in deposits from Saudi Arabia and $4 billion in safe deposits from China during the current fiscal year.
