President Zardari summons joint session of Parliament tomorrow
President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a joint session of Parliament, calling lawmakers to convene on Friday (tomorrow), January 23, 2026, at 11 am, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The development comes days after the previous joint session, scheduled for January 21, was postponed indefinitely due to the absence of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Two days ago, on January 20, 2026, the joint sitting was deferred as the Speaker was abroad on an official visit to China, making it impossible to proceed with the session as planned.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, a summary regarding the holding of the joint session of Parliament was forwarded to the Aiwan-e-Sadr for approval, following which President Zardari exercised his constitutional authority to summon the session.
Earlier, it had been stated that upon his return from China, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq would announce a new date for the joint sitting after consultations with Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The joint session will bring together members of both the National Assembly and the Senate to deliberate on matters of national importance.
