Impulsive son-in-law shoots 4 family members before committing suicide in Attock

A harrowing episode of domestic violence unfolded at a private residence in Pind Mehri, a rural village near Hasan Abdal in Attock district, as a man identified as Nasser opened indiscriminate fire during a household altercation, killing four members of his in-laws’ family, including two young children, before turning the gun on himself, as reported by 24NewsHD TV Channel on Thursday.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the region, leaving an entire household annihilated within moments.

The victims who lost their lives on the spot included 47-year-old Nasim Akhtar, the accused’s mother-in-law, and his two-year-old daughter, Kainat. Two others include 50-year-old father-in-law Nisar and five-year-old son Falak who sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Despite desperate medical efforts, both succumbed to their wounds shortly after arrival. In a grim culmination of the violence, the accused Nasser reportedly shot himself following the attack, dying by suicide at the scene.

Upon receiving information, police and Rescue 1122 teams swiftly reached the location, secured the area, and shifted the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have confirmed the identities and ages of all the deceased and have initiated further legal and procedural formalities to ascertain the precise circumstances and motives behind the carnage.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area, reigniting urgent concerns about domestic violence, firearm accessibility, and the silent escalation of familial conflicts into irreversible tragedies.

Local residents remain stunned, describing the family as ordinary and the incident as both sudden and incomprehensible.

Police officials have stated that investigations are ongoing, while the bodies of the deceased have been handed over for burial after medico-legal procedures.
