ECC okays Rs33b subsidy for Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme

The meeting of the federal cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday approved a subsidy of Rs33 billion for New Pakistan Housing Project, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision was taken at the ECC meeting held in Islamabad under the chair of Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
The TV channel reported that Rs 4.77 billion will be spent this year out of total subsidy of Rs33 billion. The subsidy will be given for construction of small houses of three to ten marlas.
The ECC also approved supply of 1.5 million metric tons of wheat to Pakistan Army. The committee also approved the minimum basic price of tobacco.
The tobacco price has been fixed at Rs88.43 to Rs237.52 per kg in six different categories, the TV channel reported.
The meeting also approved Rs6.86 billion for provisions of loans on low interest rate to farmers through the agriculture bank. Federal cabinet’s ECC meeting also approved Rs4.18 billion for Digital Pakistan Project.
