Teenagers killed in Kaghan over honour

Two teenagers were allegedly killed by their family in Kaghan Valley for wanting to marry against their parents’ wishes, it was learnt on Wednesday.
According to SHO Kaghan Police Station Wajid Khan, the girl wanted to tie the knot with her cousin instead of her fiancé. However, their parents were against the wedding and as a result, killed them both.
“When police rushed to the scene, the families refused to register a first information report (FIR) of the incident,” said Khan.
He added the fathers of boy, girl and an uncle of both deceased were arrested and shifted to the police station. Khan said the parents of the slain couple first planned the killing and then executed the plan.
Rahim Yar Khan youth beaten up by jirga for ‘honour’
Four members of a jirga (traditional assembly of leaders) in Rahim Yar Khan were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating up a man in the name of honour, the police said.
The jirga had ruled against the victim after which he was beaten up, his moustaches was cut and black paint smeared across his face.
The incident was recorded and uploaded on social media. After the video went viral, the district police took action against the perpetrators. A case has been registered and further investigations are under way.
