No headway in rescue of ship stuck near Karachi coast
TV grab.

A ship of Hong Kong Shipping Line has not been provided rescue services on the second consecutive day and the vessel is still stranded near the Karachi coast, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to the Karachi Port Trust, the vessel, named Heng Tong 77, had departed from the port earlier and its engine started to falter soon after. The high tides pushed it towards the coast, a few kilometres away from Seaview.

It has been reported that now the ship is sinking in the sand near Karachi's Seaview.

Karachi Port Trust official said that the ship anchors were dislodged. While experts say in this scenario a formal ‘May Day’ call was conveyed to start the rescue efforts.

Sources say operations department excused itself from rescuing the ship and also if the rescue efforts start then all of its cost would be paid by the owner of the ship

KPT says the responsibility to save the ship lies on the owner and in case of any environmental hazard the only owner will be responsible.
