Punjab governor cancels China visit due to rains, floods
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has cancelled his official visit to China in view of the heavy rains and floods in Punjab, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to officials, Khan visited the flood-affected areas to assess the damage. Speaking on the occasion, he said all rescue teams were busy searching for the father and daughter who were swept away by floodwater.
The Punjab governor said that all political parties should rise above politics and stand by the victims in the prevailing situation.
He said that natural disasters cannot be prevented, but effective measures are being taken to minimise their impact.
Saleem Haider Khan said the PPP will not leave the flood victims alone. He appealed to people to not to go to mountainous areas in the rainy season.
