The Sindh High Court on Wednesday suspended judicial magistrate’s order for exhumation and post-mortem of late PTI lawmaker and TV host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court issued its directive after hearing an appeal against the judicial magistrate’s order filed by Aamir Hussain’s son and daughter.
The court suspended the judicial magistrate’s order until next hearing of the appeal which will take place on June 29.
The court also issued notice to the Sindh health secretary and the medical board.
Earlier in the day, the Sindh High Court admitted for hearing the appeal filed by Aamir Liaquat’s son and daughter to nullify the orders of a Karachi’s judicial magistrate for exhumation and post-mortem of their father’s body.
Advocate Zia Awan represented the daughter and son of the deceased and submitted the appeal.
On Tuesday, Bushra—the former first wife of deceased lawmaker and television personality Dr Aamir Liaquat—had decided to challenge the court order to exhume her former husband’s body for an autopsy but she could file it herself and she had no link with the late lawmaker.
Earlier, a judicial magistrate in Karachi directed the authorities on Saturday to conduct a post-mortem examination of Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who passed away on June 9 and was buried the next day.
The court order reads, "It is crystal clear that the cause of death of deceased is still uncertain which itself has raised a question on the death, either it is natural or unnatural, and could only be ascertained after exhumation of a dead body and its examination."
