Masked men kidnap former PTI leader Javed Badr, extort Rs0.2mn

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Javed Badr was abducted outside his residence in Lahore's Factory Area, according to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by local police, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred when five masked men, one of them dressed in a police uniform, intercepted Badr outside his home. They forcibly pushed him into a vehicle and drove toward Sharaqpur Road, as detailed in the FIR.

While in custody, the abductors allegedly transferred Rs 200,000 from Javed Badr’s bank account into their own. He was kept in captivity for several hours before being abandoned on a roadside.

During the ordeal, the kidnappers reportedly referred to a 20-year-old legal case involving Badr, adding further mystery to the motive behind the incident.

Police confirmed that Javed Badr had parted ways with PTI last year. An official from the Factory Area police station stated, “An investigation has been launched, and the facts will be revealed soon.”

A case has been registered under charges of kidnapping and extortion, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
