Modi govt exposed for inhumane treatment of schoolchildren

The Modi administration has drawn international condemnation after shocking details emerged of its inhumane treatment of schoolchildren in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, during a publicity campaign linked to International Yoga Day, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.

According to reports, tribal children, many from impoverished communities, were forced to participate in a high-profile yoga event orchestrated to boost the government’s public relations image. 

These children, victims of poverty and neglect, were made to sleep on bare floors without access to basic facilities—all for the sake of appearing in photo ops supporting the event.

The state’s Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Environment, Science, and Technology Minister Pawan Kalyan are being widely criticised for their role in the episode.

Both leaders are accused of ethical misconduct for allowing helpless children to be exploited in what has been described as a government-sanctioned media stunt.

Eyewitnesses and local sources confirmed that the children received neither proper accommodation nor the dignity they deserved. 

Many were left sleeping on concrete floors under harsh conditions while the political elite celebrated Yoga Day as a supposed symbol of wellness and discipline.

Human rights observers have condemned the event, stating that the Modi government has crossed moral boundaries in its pursuit of political gain. 

Critics argue this reflects the administration’s deeply rooted disregard for the rights of marginalised communities, especially children.

Meanwhile, mainstream Indian media—often labelled as “Godi Media”—has remained largely silent, allegedly attempting to downplay the disgraceful conduct. 

Their inaction has fuelled accusations of complicity in covering up the Modi government’s misdeeds.

The incident has further intensified the debate on how far political regimes can go in sacrificing human dignity for image management.
