Aida Sheikh calls out Lahore’s expensive coffee culture
Lifestyle content creator Aida Sheikh has shared a series of Instagram stories criticizing Lahore's increasingly expensive coffee culture.
The debate began when Aida reviewed a drink from a popular cafe.
Sharing a photo of a green iced beverage, she acknowledged that the coffee was decent but argued that it was overpriced for the quantity being served.
According to her, the cup appeared under-filled and contained excessive ice.
Aida revealed that when she raised the issue with a staff member, she was told that although the quantity was smaller, the quality justified the price and that the cafe's popularity proved customers were satisfied.
However, the influencer disagreed with the argument with insisting that viral popularity should not automatically be mistaken for long term success.
In a follow-up story, Aida praised another cafe, calling it her preferred choice because of its affordability, discounts, generous portions, and coffee quality.
While noting that she has her own personal reservations about the brand, she said it remains her go to option because it offers better value for money.
Aida argued that coffee should be accessible enough to become part of a daily routine rather than being treated as an occasional luxury purchase.
She explained that expensive pricing strategies have historically prevented many people from developing a regular coffee habit.
Aida also shared a screenshot of a bank transaction showing a payment of PKR 1,344 at a coffee shop.
She described that amount as a far more reasonable price point compared to what she claimed some premium cafes now charge.
The content creator also questioned whether cafes expecting customers to spend over PKR 3,000 on a simple meal and beverage could realistically sustain long term customer loyalty.
In her view, businesses should focus on affordability if they want consumers to make coffee part of their everyday lifestyle.
